Copyright and using atlas material

Copyright exists in all the material (maps and text) produced by the Historic Towns Trust and published in the British Historic Towns Atlas series or in the Town & City Historical Maps series.

The Trust gives permission for the use of those maps which appear on its website (atlas volumes 1, 2 and 3) for use in educational or instructional contexts - for example in public lectures, for school classes or for higher-educational purposes.  You do not need to seek our permission for such use.  

If you use this material for the purposes permitted, then please could you acknowledge its source: British Historic Towns Atlas  and, where possible, display the copyright symbol © .

Commercial reproduction of HTT copyright material

We welcome enquiries from anyone interested in using material produced by us for reproduction or adaptation in commercial publications, in printed form or for another website, or any use in the broader media, e.g. television, radio, film, or internet-based platforms, or for other purposes which share the educational aims of the HTT.
